About Nordic Neurosurgery

Sami Raunio – Neurosurgeon and Spinal surgeon
After finishing my specialist training in 2006 in Finland, I continued experiencing the full scale of brain and spine surgical needs there. A Fellowship of spine training in Singapore has further deepened my skills. Since 2017 I have enjoyed working with a variety of people in New Zealand. I have a keen interest in brain and spine issues such as intracranial tumors, vascular problems, and nerve dysfunctions. I also manage patients with head trauma and hydrocephalus. A common issue I treat with the spine is pain, often radiating to a nerve area in the arm or leg. The management of your health issues will be tailored to your needs. I am determined to help my patients to understand their health and make informed health decisions. And the service comes with a smile. In my spare time I enjoy cycling and outdoor exploring the beautiful New Zealand with my wife. |

Sandra Carter – Personal Assistant
I have been working with Dr. Sami Raunio now for 2 years since he started Nordic Neurosurgery Limited. My role is to book patients into the clinic once a referral has been received. We like to see patients within a week of a referral being provided to us. If we receive an urgent referral we try and book as soon as possible (sometimes a special clinic). I am the first point of contact with the patients and like to provide a confidential service where patient’s questions are dealt with promptly. The majority of patients Dr. Raunio sees are in a lot of pain, and I try to give them as much support as possible. I enjoy my role, and like Dr. Raunio the service comes with a smile! |
